2018 Ram 1500

Everything about the 2018 Ram 1500 says bold and brawny, from the wide grille and hood height, hinting at the powerful engine beneath, to the RAM metal stamp in the middle of the grille. And the Ram 1500 lives up to its exterior’s promise, earning top billing among many professional reviewers and truck fans.

How Powerful is the Ram 1500?

It may surprise Ford fans, but the Ram 1500 is just as powerful as its F-150 rival. Its base engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. That’s actually more horsepower than the base Ford F-150, which delivers just 290. You probably won’t be able to tell a difference with those kinds of numbers. But with the Ram 1500, you better believe there is power there in spades. There’s also the V-8 engine option for even more power.

With the Ram 1500, you also get between 1,227 and 1,923 pounds in payload capacity and up to 10,000 pounds towing when properly configured.

Does the Ram 1500 Have Good Tech Options?

It does now. The 2018 model boasts an optional Apple CarPlay and Android Auto options on an 8.4-inch touchscreen display and powered by Ford’s UConnect system. On the same display, you’ll find a backup camera that comes standard on all models.

Which Ram 1500 Is Best?

Like most pickup trucks, there seems to be an endless number of configurations and options for the Ram 1500. This year saw the advent of the new Harvest and Limited Tungsten editions. The Limited Tungsten is top-of-the-line, and arguably the best Ram 1500. Inside, it boasts premium leather with a faux-suede headliner. On the outside, it has a new sport hood and a chrome grille emblazoned with the Ram name.

Still, the most bang for your buck probably comes in the form of the Ram 1500 Big Horn. It comes standard with 7-inch driver-information display, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with smartphone connection. You can upgrade to the V-8 hemi and all-wheel drive options, if desired.
