Used Ram Trucks: Bed & Cabin Sizes
Like competitors, the full-size Ram 1500 comes in three body styles: the regular cabin, extended Quad Cab, and crew cabin. The regular cabin is paired with either the 6-foot-4-inch bed or the 8-foot bed, so you can select the model that suits your hauling needs. The Quad Cabin comes standard with the 6-foot-4-inch bed. The crew cabin, which delivers the most in passenger space, comes with the 5-foot-7-inch bed.
However, the heavy-duty model configurations differ from other trucks. When you shop the used Ram 2500 or 3500, you can choose between a two-door regular cabin, four-door crew cabin, and an exclusive four-door jumbo crew cabin, known as the Mega Cab. The regular cabin is matched with the long 8-foot bed. With the heavy-duty crew cabin, you can choose between the long 8-foot bed and short 6-foot-4-inch bed. The Mega Cabin comes with the short bed only.
Used Ram Trucks: Features & Technology
No matter which truck you prefer, you’ll find three basic trim models across the board. Ram trucks are available as the entry-level ST, mid-grade SLT, and upscale Laramie. However, even the base ST impresses with its supportive seating and modern comforts like air conditioning. The entry-level Ram keeps you protected with a bevy of standard safety features, such as stability control and antilock brakes. When you upgrade to the SLT or Laramie, you’ll find increasing luxury, with features like leather holster and rear entertainment systems. Some used Ram trucks even feature the nifty RamBox storage bins. Mounted on the sides of the bed, these bins help you organize and protect your tools and supplies.
Used Ram 1500
The full-size Ram 1500 has plenty of heft for your towing and hauling needs. If you want to move max loads, look for the line’s 5.7-liter V8. It delivers 390 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque, helping you tow 10,640 pounds. To travel off-road, look for a Ram 1500 with four-wheel drive. This technology is available for all trim models. The used Ram 1500 is known for its smooth ride, courtesy of its class-exclusive coil-spring rear suspension. In addition to ride comfort, the cabin is airy and comfortable, with a wide range of options, such as seat heaters.
Used Ram 2500
If you’ve got to tow and haul more than the Ram 1500 can handle, look to the heavy-duty used Ram 2500. The Ram 2500 offers both a gas-powered V8 and a turbodiesel six-cylinder engine, so you can choose the powertrain that meets your needs. With a fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailer, you can tow max loads of 17,890 pounds. If you’ve got an exceptionally big camper or a four-horse trailer to tow, you’ve found your workhorse. Properly equipped, the Ram 2500 can haul payloads weighing up to 3,990 pounds. Load up the bed with everything you need to get the job done and enjoy the Ram’s smooth ride. Like the Ram 1500, this heavy-duty model utilizes a class-exclusive coil-spring rear suspension for best-in-class ride comfort.
Used Ram 3500
The heavy-duty Ram 3500 sits at the top of the Ram’s truck lineup, with the greatest towing and hauling capabilities. Like the Ram 2500, it offers both a gasoline-powered V8 and a turbodiesel six-cylinder. With the diesel powertrain, you can tow max loads of 31,210 pounds. Choose this heavy-duty used truck if the weight of your family camper or specialty machinery exceeds the limits of lesser trucks. The used Ram 3500 is also a skilled hauler, moving payloads of up to 6,580 pounds, depending on body style and powertrain.
